MARIE RICHARDS PHOTOGRAPHY | EQUINE PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER, AUCKLAND
Xanthe had a special birthday approaching and wanted to have beautiful photos of her special horse Tulley. Tulley was showing he didn't particularly love jumping and so Xanthe decided to share Tulley with her friend Sarah and welcomed Copper to the family to share her love of show jumping on. Held at Meadowbank Pony Club, it was a stunning summer day though we had very high winds - not always a great combination with horses! - and so the luscious bush setting I had planned became too spooky and unsafe for Xanthe and the horses to be in. We headed up to calmer grounds and I worked a different kind of magic from within one of the arenas.
Before Xanthe's session I went over some basic posing tips so they had a better understanding on how and where to place their hands, how to bring their heads closer to their horse and of course I guided them continually throughout. It's so important to keep the softness with hands, especially when holding a lead rope or reins and I received this lovely email from Xanthe afterwards.
"Thank you so much for coming out to Meadowbank to take the photos! They are so gorgeous, me and Sarah both love all of them! They are definitely photos that I will treasure for years, they are so beautiful and I love the lighting and everything about them. Your expert posing made everyone look so lovely. Thanks so much again"
Xanthe, it was such a pleasure to photograph you with Tulley and Copper. I hope you experience every success and joy riding and jumping Copper and that you'll look back on these gorgeous memories for many years to come.
Sarah, you were such a star helping us with the session, thank you. I caught some great photos of you with Tulley and I hope you love every moment of your time with him.
